
Principles of Management and Organizational Behaviour is a foundational course designed to provide M.Com students with a comprehensive understanding of the principles, processes, and practices of management and the behaviour of individuals and groups within organizations. The course integrates the classical and contemporary concepts of management with the behavioural dimensions of organizations.
The Principles of Management component introduces students to the meaning, nature, scope, functions, and significance of management. It covers major management principles and theories, planning, organizing, staffing, directing, coordination, and controlling. Students are also exposed to the contributions of thinkers such as F.W. Taylor, Henri Fayol, Elton Mayo, Max Weber, and Peter Drucker, enabling them to understand the evolution of management thought.
The Organizational Behaviour (OB) component focuses on understanding how individuals and groups behave in organizational settings. It examines important behavioural concepts such as personality, perception, attitudes, learning, motivation, leadership, communication, group dynamics, conflict, power, organizational culture, and organizational change. The course helps students understand how individual and group behaviour influences organizational effectiveness.
