Solid
state chemistry deals with the synthesis, structure, properties and
applications of solid materials. It involves a deeper level understanding of a
compound from a molecular level to a crystal structure level. The objective of
this course is to introduce the students to basics of solid state chemistry to
defects in solids including thermodynamics of various defects formation. This
also contains different types of solid state reactions towards the synthesis of
solid materials and their properties.
