About CDOE
The CDOE under the Fakir Mohan University was established with the mission to reach out to more and more people and help them in their endeavour to study further, by taking education to the doorsteps of the people without compromising the quality of education. It has the focus on education, research and training by diversity means of distance and continuing education by using new educational technology available to common men with easy access. Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates of CDOE shall be treated as per with the Degrees/ Diplomas issued by the regular departments of any other University and the Country. The course fee of CDOE is very reasonable even the lowest in the State, The Rules and Regulations of the Statutory Bodies like UGC and NCTE shall be strictly adhered to by the Institution.
The CDOE is located at the Old Campus, F.M. University, Januganj, Balasore as study centre of the university. It is imparting various programmes like M.A. in (Economics. Political Science, Sociology, History, Odia, English, Sanskrit, Education, Master of Commerce (M.Com) and Master of Social Work (MSW), which are recognized by UGC DEB vide its Email dated 21th February 2025 for the Academic Year 2024-25 , Academic Session beginning from February 2025 and onwards.
It is to be noted that the distance mode education under Fakir Mohan University has been running since 2007 in its study center named Center for Distance and Continuing Education(CDCE), then after it was renamed as Directorate of Distance and Continuing Education (DDCE). Now by UGC Distance and Online Education guidelines and rule 2020, it is named as Center for Distance and Online Education ( CDOE ).
MISSION OF THE CDOE
CDOE has a mission to empower the students with knowledge, skills, capacity building and value creating which are necessary for a successful civil society. It has the motto to promote a bank of human talent in diversified faculties that would become an investment for a prosperous society.
VISION OF THE CDOE
- To provide opportunity to those who are unable to pursue their education through regular mode.
- To cope with the increasing demand for higher education and to enable the students of the weaker sections of the society and of rural background for higher education who are unable to pay fee charged by private institutes.
- To provide quality education at reasonable fee structure.
- To introduce a host of Vocational Degree & Diploma Courses through Distance Education mode, with the hope to reach out to more and more people and help them in their endeavour to study further and taking education to people at their doorstep by removing all barriers of learning. But, of course, without compromising the quality factor.
- To provide meaningful opportunity for employment of young people by enhancing their knowledge base.
- To cater to the needs of the unprivileged section of the society particularly the physically and mentally retarded population of the state.
- To serve as catalyst and development if an open learning system and contribute to create the best academic environment for unemployed youths of the country.
